Revelator

Released: 2011

Recorded in Derek and Susan's own Swamp Raga Studios in Jacksonville, co-produced by Derek with producer/engineer Jim Scott (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco), Revelator is a confident yet unforced triumph offering a cohesive vision: an idyllic, musical world in which the echoes of so many great traditions — Delta blues and Memphis soul, Sixties rock and Seventies funk — flow together naturally, blending with an entirely original, modern sensibility.

"This album is an evolution of what we’ve all been doing before," says Trucks. "With this album, everything’s been thought out a little deeper, figuring out the music and what the tunes mean—more time given to the whole process."

"These songs are all life-adventure stuff," adds Tedeschi, who co-wrote most of the album with her husband. "Whether soul-searching or love-searching, looking for shelter, or hope, or just a break...Revelator is about storytelling through songs—songs with nice musical structures, with beginnings, middles and ends, a lot of content that people can really dig into."

Can't remember the last time we enjoyed an entire album so much. Y'all are great and hope to see you touring in the southeast sometime soon!!

Nice job at the Blues Awards in Memphis. Now I know why I am so excited that you are coming to the Jack Singer in Calgary. P.S. it's a great concert hall. I got great tickets.

Well, I haven't listened to it yet, though it's 2012!
But now that's such a luck to find it here!
I've listened to the first song and I should confess, it's wonderful! According to the comments, this album must be a great piece of art!
Thanks for sharing!

I showed my wife Midnight in Harlem,
I told her the band was coming to Stockton,
we live in Sacramento,
she said lets go,
I scored 12th Row Center seats,
I am such a lucky man,
I love my wife,
we are looking forward to listening to you sing to us.

Peace,
John and Daisy

Please consider playing the Snowy Range Festival in Laramie Wyo. 8/31 in between Red Rocks Co. and Pheonix Az. Regards Hurk.

I just watched "In Performance at the White House - Red,White- and Blues" again. It's been on my DVR since Feb. 27th. I have watched it several times now. What a great show! The best performance, in my opinion, was when Derek, Susan, and Warren Haynes did "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James. Amazing! I couldn't bring myself to delete it but I need the space on my DVR so I have to delete it :>( but not without watching "I'd Rather Go Blind" one more time. I'm an old hardened guy who doesn't cry but man that performance had my eyes watering. Must be my allergies. Just beautiful perfection. Check it out!

Watch it at the following link. There are probably other links at YouTube but this PBS link is the original source and best quality. Click play on the first video on the link's page, "I'd Rather Go Blind" is at the 41:09 point, chapter 11 or 14.

Music as it should be - right back to the roots. I cannot get enough of this band. I am getting tickets to the show at the Hollywood Bowl. Briliant ~ beauty expresses itself and words cannot speak to that place, but your music can. A heartfelt thank you.

p.s. If you ever need a good yoga instructor to keep you all flexible and supple on the road - I'm your girl Wink

When will the "LIVE"record be coming out? Can't wait for that!

Hi everybody....why don't you guys jump on a plane and come for some jamming in New Zealand....even Master Keb Mo is playing on a Jazz Festival in Tauranga on the 5th of April.....Just check out the Bay of Plenty Jazz and Blues Festival....
I bought your Revelator cd sound unheard, only song known was the live version of "Midnight in Harlem" played at Crossroads 2010.....just fell in love with it and became addicted to your "awsum" music.
Other comments on here just informed me about your Grammy Award. YUSS!!!!
Just promise me you will never stop playing, singing and creating...."Kia Kaha",Izzie

Hi Guys, we discovered your band trough the Crossroad guitar festival 2007, meanwhile we bought your Revelator cd, your dvd "Live at Georgia theater" and the same cd for the car...We also found a dvd from Susan playing in Austin...We just love your music and try to introduce it to as many people we can...you must know we run a hostel in New zealand's first national park and that's how we meet up with lots of travellers from al over the world. We noticed youngsters are not very used to the blues music, we think something should be done to improve the first contact with your music style...you guys being Kings following God "Eric" probably find some tricks to do so....
Really looking forward seeing you one day live on this side of the world...keep playing please...cheers Izzie and John.

Congratulations on the Grammy!!! What a great combination of musical talent. I've been following Susan Tedeschi for years and have seen her 3 times in Washington State area. Looking forward to seeing you guys in 2012 at the Wanee Festival in Fla.

Congratulations on the Grammy!
I'll be celebrating my 45th birthday with you in Charleston, West Virginia on March 30th along with my brother. We are part of a set of triplets and we are both very excited to see you live! Can't wait!
Any chance for a meet & greet?

Anybody know if there is a sight with set lists and or show downloads. I would love to get some live recordings.

CONGRATS on the well-deserved Grammy win for Best Blues Album of 2011!

Altogether, a great year for Derek - the overwhelming success of Revelator, being named among the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine [#16], and now the Grammy win!!

Saw you guys in London. What a billing with Robert Randolph and the Family Band! Had two tickets but best beloved stayed home to babysit new puppy- she's gutted now!
Got as near to the front as we could- 6 feet from the PA bins.
Deafening! Spent whole evening with fingers in ears but hardly noticed.
Then, deep joy!!!! Aunty recorded the shown and it came out on BBC Radio 2 about a month later.
Now have an iPlayer to minidisc to CD transfer that lives in my car. Every time Danny Baker plays some yacht rock rubbish on GLR radio, on it goes.
Guys, if you are going to release a live cut, do consider at least some of the numbers from the June 29 Shepherds Bush Empire set because most were awesome.
Missed last train home and had to be up at 5 am for flight to Hamburg. So worth it and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
The spare ticket is up on the wall in my guitar room upstairs because the tout only offered me a fiver for it..

Great, great music. My nephew did his uncle a great favor turning me on to both of you. See you in Cincinnati!!!

They just kept going...never miss a beat. it stopped as soon as it started, onthebroadway and the show go on. Man they rock. Susan is just an angel, and Derek's guitar playing just made me cry.

I would love to see you all playing. You are amazing..
Cheers from South America, Argentina!
Talk with Clapton and make a Crossroads festival here, you wont regret! =)

Does anyone know how Trucks gets his guitar sound on Midnight in Harlem? I'd love to know the guitar, pedals, amp, and cab. Thanks!

thanks so much for the music

Really enjoyed your performance on Crossroads. Come to Belarus, we are glad to see you!

Thanks SO much for the gig at XPN. It truly is all about the music. Would love to see you folks at Bonaroo next June! Have a great holiday season!

Well, well, well
I saw the show in DC on 10/28. I am still mesmerized. Unbelievable. Simply put, greatest concert I have ever seen. All of the performers are amazing. The trumpet player is as much fun to watch as to listen to! Without doubt ,Midnight in Harlem is now my favorite song of all time - beating out Mountain Jam by the ABB. I remember seeing Derek for the first time when he came on stage with the ABB when he was 12, and I remember seeing Susan for the first time come on stage unannounced with the DTB. How amazing it is to see what they have created.

Went to the nj pac in Newark tonight to see the show. The venue is fantastic, hard to beleive that you are in Newaek. I have attended many shows over the years that were tight and right, but the performance tonight was magical. Susan can belt the vocals out and playes a mean axe. Derek was leading the crew and everone gave 120% all night. What a great combo of seasoned musicians. I will never miss a show of theres in the NY & NJ area. Long may the T.& T band stay healthy and alive and keep on playing. The skyes the limit for this talented group.

Would love to see Derek and Susan at the Warren Haynes Xmas Jam in Asheville this year! What a perfect addition to the already great line up! Think about it!!!!

can't wait for Susan & Derek to play @ the FL theatre on Dec 28!!!!! so excitd! huge fan of susan's fr so cal now livg in Jax, FL (susan & derek's hmtown). my husband is a huge fan of dereks & grew up in Jax. he has playd guitar w/friend's of derek's (personally @ their homes. not professionally. he is not a professional/commercial musician nor does he have a desire to do so). we are tryg to get VIP tix for the Dec 28 Florida Theatre show yet the VIP tickets are not listed on the ticket site only P2 and P3. I called the ticket agent, the venue & viewed venue both websites. the venue doesn't even have the show listed yet. the ticket agent doesn't have access to VIP tix yet the sony/tix website has VIP listed for $78 & we need 2! Smile they both told me to contact fan mgmt or website trouble/help desk. can't find fan mgmt link so i sent an email to sony tix site & tedeschitrucks website help. i don't want to miss this show!!! i have follow-d Susan for 15 yrs & saw her open for the Oh Brother Where Art Thou tour in So Cal in '98 (af discoverg her "Just Won't Burn" tonecool CD) or was it Bob Dillon & Paul Simon (i don't recall). my hubby has followd Derek just as long so we are REALLY excited about the local show. it will be amazg for us as a couple ~ to see them perform as a couple ~ given we have only seen them individually at their solo concerts. look forward to meetg some of the cool fans!

I would like to give a big thanks to you guys for performing for Cystic Fibrosis! We are so excited to come see you guys tommorrow!
My little girl, Kara, has CF. We wasn't diagnosed with CF until she was 2 years old. She is just turned 6 this July, and is doing very well by the grace of God;) The prognosis for CF has went a long way since 10 years ago, and we continue to march on. You are an inspiration to us all, and hopefully this will be the start of a big movement in the music industry! I absolutely LOVE your music, it soothes my soul. Thank you again and may God bless everyone of you.
Sincerely,
The Reed family:)

Got my tickets for the Royal Oak Music Theater in October. Can't wait!

They came to Albuquerque, New Mexico in August. The show just rocked. We were in an outdoor venue and about song number 3 it started raining. Although the stage area was covered, the rain blew in from behind the band. They just kept going...never missed a beat. it stopped as soon as it started, and the show went on. Man they rocked. Susan is just an angel, and Derek's guitar playing just made me cry. The entire band was excellent. Can hardly wait to see em again.

I saw them in Boston Aug. '11. I am a long time fan of both Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. To see them together is simply amazing. She is the perfect voice paired with the sickest guitarist out there. We had 3rd row, dead center seats and I knew they would blow my mind....but the musicianship with which they surrounded themselves took the program to another level for me. Beautifully fleshed out... and I fell in love with every single one of them. Derek is a phenomenon unto himself, as is Susan, but fusing their talents gave them a signature of their own. I hope The Tedeschi Trucks Band will come back to the RI area soon.
In the meantime, I thank them for enriching my life and I'm waiting with bated breathe for their next collaboration.

I am blown away by this album. Holgar Peterson and Saturday Night Blues introduced me to this album. All I can say is..please come to Canada. Okay, not just Canada, but western Canada. Wow

My wife and I, for our 10th anniversary, went to the show on 8/19 in Portland, Maine and it was amazing. Anyone have an idea on how I can get a copy of that show? Hopefully it was recorded. They should be recording everything at this point.

Midnight in Harlem will win a grammy, as probably will the whole album. Just great. Can't wait to catch them again.

Love the CD- Been listening to it for weeks just about everyday. Please come to texas- Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, I don't care. Will happily travel to see this amazing band!

Please come back to Maine soon and often.

I just bought my tickets for the show here in Chicago @ the Chicago theater on the 25 of August. Its a little birthday present to myself.I cant wait!!!!!

Went to the show last night at the Tower in Philly....Holly Sh_t....they were amazing! When was the last time you saw a band with a horn section, a stellar keyboardist and two drum kits? They opened with "Bound for Glory" and went right into the Fab Fours "I've Got Feeling" followed by Delaney & Bonnies "I'm Coming Home" Derek even did a little omage to EC during the solo....nice. GREAT SHOW , I hope they were rolling tape last night 'cause it would be a great live disk.

Midnight in Harlem: Heard it for the first time tonight. It's a beauty. Haven't heard anything so sweet in a while. Hope to see ya'll in Newark, NJPAC in October. It's a great place to hear such beautiful music. Sue

Jumped in the car to get lunch and tuned in my favorite radio station, WEVL here in Memphis. That voice, that slide, it had to be Derek and Susan. Got home, cranked it up and logged on to find out that Revelator is the featured album of the hour today. Incredible. I've been a fan of Derek's since seeing the ABB Peakin' at the Beacon program. Then Crossroads 2010 with Susan on vocals and I was hooked. I've bought a lot of old albums in the last few years but this is the first new.

Thank you!

Pah! Just seen an earlier thread.... so you've come and gone, already? Damn and blast! Next time then........

Greetings from Brighton, Ingerland ! Only just discovered you guys today! Awesome sound.... am so looking forward to getting acquainted!! Please come to the UK someday Smile

I saw your performances on the Clapton Crossroads 2010 and was absolutely blown away. Susan, your vocals are sublime, and Derek, you are a guitar god to rival the rest in the Pantheon (and that is some fine company). I am glad to have "discovered" you.

I caught you guys at the Shepards Bush Empire in London last month. It blew me away, fantastic show. I saw you doing 'Midnight in Harlem' at one of the Clapton Guitar Fesivals on tv. Googled you and it was my lucky day, you were in London a week later with tickets still available (Not many).
Please please come back to London as soon as.
